Greetings and Welcome
from the GHS Band Parents organization 2008-2009

Whether you are a returning band parent or are new to the GHS Band organization, WELCOME! You are cordially invited to join and support the GHS Band Parents organization!

Being a part of the GHS Band Parents organization is rewarding, educational and fun. You’ll make many new friends! The GHS Band Parents participants work hard to support and encourage the students and the band program at Galesburg High School. Marching Band is made up of musicians and Color Guard.

Our pride in the GHS Marching Streaks is evident in every performance and parade. As parents, our involvement can help this tradition of excellence continue throughout the years.

Please be inspired to lend your talents and energies to the GHS Band Parents organization. Running a successful band program of this size takes work. Your help and enthusiasm are NEEDED! Your presence is appreciated!

After marching season, the musicians continue as members of one of three concert bands and one of two pep bands. Musicians will also have the ability to participate in one of two jazz bands.

If you feel you could help in any of these areas, please either e-mail or call Rhonda Brady at rbrady@knoxkcap.org or phone 343-0501.

With your involvement, it will be a GREAT year!

Sincerely,
Rhonda Brady
President, GHS Band Parents

Hello All,

This year's field show, "The Divine Comedy," is a score adapted from a work written by Dante Alighieri in the 14th century. Now Included on the Performances page is a link to a new page which gives you the back-story to the show. Hope you find the reading entertaining, and perhaps learning more about the history of the story and the meanings behind each portion of the program thus making your experience more meaningful.

Special thanks to Professor Lori Haslem for her expertise and summary.

A message from Rhonda Brady
Galesburg Athletics Sports Passes Now on Sale

The Galesburg Athletics Dept is now selling Sports Passes for the 2008-2009 school year.

Each All Sports Pass cost $65.

The Sports Pass provides admission to all football games- all home basketball games boys & girls as well as all other sports that are not IHSA tournaments.
PLUS nine (9) $5.00 grocery coupons for HyVee when you spend $50 in the stores. (one per month Sept 2008- May 2009)

  • A Football pass is $20 for all football games.
  • A Boys Basketball pass is $40.
  • A Girls  Basketball Pass is $40.

These passes are especially valuable when A Band Parent is not working behind the scenes for the Band.
(ie. Working behind the scenes is defined as helping with the equipment, covering bleachers for the band, spirit wear or water.)

I have found the “All Sports Pass” to be valuable when I was not working with the band. It even supplies an assigned seat for the boys games.

Contact Ron Spring Athletic Ticket Manager at GHS Athletic Office (or call Brighter Life Bookstore and ask how to reach him......)

Thanks,  Rhonda
