GHS Band Parents Meeting Minutes 10-13-09  
   
AGENDA ITEM DISCUSSION RECOMMENDATIONS/ACTIONS RESPONSIBLE  
         
I.  Call to Order   The meeting was called to order by  Carole Buebe  
    President Carole Buebe at 7:05PM.    
    Band Parents enjoyed samples of the    
    Cheesecakes that will be our future    
    fundraiser.    
         
II.  Presentation of the Minutes   The minutes of the Spetember 8, 2009 Doris Kowalski  
    meeting were approved as distributed.    
         
III.  Treasurer's Report Band Parents reviewed reports ending 9/30/09 The report will be filed for audit. Julie Nelson  
         
IV.  Director's Report Mr. Bredemeier thanked all who prepared the   Mr. Bredemeier  
  Senior Night Sashes, Todd and all who have      
  served as Chaperones, Nancy and committee      
  for all the work moving and preparing the       
  equipment for all the shows and competitions,      
  and Debbie for the videos and pictures.  Mr. B.      
  announced that the Final Exam will consist of      
  participation in the U of I competition and the       
  submission of the Binder.  Students have       
  received instructions regarding the necessary      
  components for grading.  Pep Band will be       
  discussed at the next meeting.  Concert       
  Season begins the week after U of I.  Mr. B.      
  is responsible for Wind Symphony; Ms. Shad-      
  ensack is responsible for Symphonic and       
  Concert Bands.  Mr. B. is also responsible       
  for Pep Band.  Please call the correct instruc-      
  tor with concerns.        
  Jazz Band Auditions will be October 29, 2009.   Ms. Shadensack  
  Ms. Shadensack is the Jass Band instructor;      
  she explained the audition schedule and       
  posting of audition results.  Three students      
  were selected for IMEA Jazz Band; 1 student      
  was selected for Concert Band.      
  Band elegibility was discussed at length. Eligibility Terms for this year:    
  Mr. B. explained that next year Band will be      
  handled like a sport activity.  Mr. B. plans to > at the end of a term    
  address the Code of Conduct Committee  >at the end of term one, if GPA is <    
  which will meet at the end of this academic 1.75, and not on track to graduate &    
  year.  Parents may direct concerns with this  if behind or failing more than one class    
  policy to Dr. Denisar or Mr. Estes, or School      
  Board members.  Parents are reminded that >also affects participation in Jazz Band    
  they represent the GHS Marching Streaks (Jazz Band is considered extra-curricular)    
  if and when they are voicing their concerns >Student may be reinstated at mid-term    
  regarding the eligibility policy. >Homework will be assigned so that     
    student will receive grade for performances.    
V.  President's Report President Carole announced that there are    Carole Buebe  
  now $683.00 in outstanding Band Camp Fees.

MARCHING SEASON Chaperones Todd will call those signed up this week.

  Equipment Thanks for all the help.  U of I  plans: Nancy Reed and Dan  
    Load truck a 4:00PM on Friday.       Robertson  
    The truck will leave at 6:30AM on     
    Saturday.    
         
  Flags It was shared that the Flags were not    
    washed after the Friday game.    
  Uniforms Uniforms need to be washed before    
    U of I competition.  Sign up to assist  Ann Shumaker &   
    with fitting of tuxedoes & dresses.      Cheryl Johnson  
  U of I Tailgate Tents/canopies still needed.  Amy      
    Smith will secure 11 tables. Brenda Marshall  
  Senior Night Compliments to Ann Seibert on the    Kim Sevigny  
    sashes -  they were great!  Flowers    
    with 'streaks' were appreciated.    
  Spirit Wear We need to update the pictures on Kim Sevigny and   
    our website.      An Lybarger  
  Watering Crew Continue to need help at games and  Cathy Brush and

WAYS AND MEANS Balloon Days   Joan Smith/Carole Buebe  
  Bottled Water Discussed the potential of selling at Cory & Deb Silber  
    Lombard soccer games.    
  Car Wash Completed - No report. Chuck Bankes &  
      Chuck Buebe  
  Cheesecake Sales Discussed the possibility of moving Alanna Pelton &  
    this fundraiser to January. Melody Bates  
  Community Coupon Book Continue to sell - now half-price at     Mr. Bredemeier  
    $10.00.    
  Fannie Mae  Plan to complete for Christmas.  Co-    
    chair will be Ann Shumaker. Cheryl Johnson  
  Gift Wrap Reviewed responsibilities of parents & Lori Larsen &  
    students when working.  Sign up        Ann Lybarger  
    sheets/book available in Band Room.    
  HyVee Coupon Books Have books remaining; are good until  Brenda Marshall  
    July.  Cost is $5.00.    
  Patron Sales Plan to initiate in January, after  Doris Kowalski  
    Christmas season and Raffle.    
  Raffle Printing of the tickets was an in-kind  Nancy Boyd  
    gift.  Each student will be asked to     
    sell.  Early bird drawings X3.    
  Restaurant Benefit Nights Budde's and HyVee are planned. Nancy Boyd

VII.  Old Business There was no Old/Unfinished business to       
  report.      
         
VIII.  New Business It was shared that the Drums need to be       
  cleaned after the last football game and the       
  muddy field.
