GHS Band Parents Meeting Minutes 9-8-09
AGENDA ITEM DISCUSSION RECOMMENDATIONS/ACTIONS RESPONSIBLE  
         
I.  Call to Order   The meeting was called to order by  Carole Buebe  
    President Carole Buebe at 7:05PM.    
         
II.  Presentation of the Minutes   The minutes of the May 12, 2009 and Doris Kowalski  
    August 25, 2009 were approved after    
    review of typographical errors by the     
    Secretary.    
III.  Treasurer's Report Band Parents reviewed reports ending 9/08/09 The report will be filed for audit. Julie Nelson  
         
IV.  Director's Report Mr. Bredemeier thanked all parents who helped    Mr. Bredemeier  
  with the last Football game.  Gary Smith will      
  be at GHS on Thursday, Spetember 10th to       
  work with the Band students during 4th block      
  and after school.  Mr. Smith is the previous      
  Director of the Marching Illini.  Parents can      
  assist the Band Directors by requesting their      
  student play their music by memory for their      
  parents.  ALL MUSIC MUST BE MEMORIZED.      
  Itineraries are available on the piano for Morton      
  and Washington competitions.  If students will      
  not be returning on the school buses, the       
  student must present a note from their parents      
  on Friday of the competition week.      
  Parents are encouraged to help their students   Ms. Shadensack  
  prepare for the Washington competition by       
  hydrating and eating after the football game &      
  prior to leaving on the buses.  Stuents may       
  want to bring a snack due to the schedule.      
  For Morton - each student will be responsible      
  for their instrument.  All notes are to be sent to       
  Ms. Shadensack.  IMEA audition dates were      
  announced.      
         
V.  President's Report President Carole addressed our fundraising    Carole Buebe  
  activities and their relationship to our general      
  budget as well as the trip.  She summarized      
  that the more money we earn, the more money      
  we can give to each student (based on earned      
  points) for the trip. The Budget was distributed.   Upon motion being made and duly

VI.  Committee Reports        
COMMUNICATIONS Communications If you are not receiviing emails be sure Joan Smith  
    you have submitted the correct address.

MARCHING SEASON Chaperones Eleven chaperones are needed for     
    Saturdays competition. Todd Shumaker  
         
  Equipment Report after 1st quarter of the game for Nancy Reed and Dan  
    halftime show.  Will need help at compe       Robertson  
    tition to unload the truck.  Bleacher    
    covers need to be adjusted; do not fit    
    bleachers at end of field.    
  Flags One design completed.  Contact Ann Ann Seibert  
    to help with flag sewing.    
  Uniforms Will need help at all parades, FB games,    
    and competitions with gold & plumes. Ann Shumaker &

  U of I Tailgate Tents/canopies still needed.  Also     
    need 10 tables. Brenda Marshall  
  Senior Night Need actual number of Senior students.   Kim Sevigny  
    Will explore flowers with streaks/G's.    
         
  Spirit Wear Color Guard has requested decals. Kim Sevigny and

  Gift Wrap Co-chair will be Ann Lybarger. Lori Larsen  
    Reviewed chair responsibilities.    
    Sign up for shifts will start next month.    
  HyVee Coupon Books Have books remaining; are good until  Brenda Marshall  
    July.  Cost is $5.00.    
  Patron Sales We will coordinate this with/around Doris Kowalski  
    our other fundraisers.    
  Raffle Approval gained to hold Raffle.  Parents Nancy Boyd  
    must sell tickets.    
         
  Restaurant Benefit Nights No report. Nancy Boyd

VII.  Old Business Mr.  B. reported on the Eligibility rules which Parents voiced displeasure with these   Mr. Bredemeier and
