The Veteran’s Day parade was also a success. Mr. B echoed John Shelly’s thanks, in particular Mr. B. thanked the Tates, Pearsons, Reeds, Bradys and Stanleys for heading up the uniform and equipment committee work and complimented them for being so well organized. Mr. B also commented that we are fortunate to have all of the following successful bands: marching band, concert bands, jazz bands, and pep bands. He said that for all this success to occur, it also takes committed and involved section leaders, which we are also fortunate to have in our band program. Finally, he announced that the weekly practice sheet will be going home and needs to be signed by a parent/guardian. It’s 10% of the grade and the practice will be important to the continued success of the various bands. 5. Committee Reports A. The tickets were $5 each, up for the first time from $1. They did ask us if we wanted to do it again next year. Ann commented that after about 1:30, not too many people were there. We did not earn money on the carriage rides. U. Ways and Means 1. She thanked her assistants Vicki Tate, Lori Nyi and Carolyn Pierson who helped her move and load 2800 pounds of cheesecake. 6. Old Business: Brighter Life – Nancy Reed: The inventory of Brighter Life went well. Sixteen people were there. We could have used another 6 helpers. We started at about 6 p.m. and ended at 12:30 a.m. We earned $600 for the boosters. Mary Spring of Brighter Life was very happy with the way the store was left in order and how the inventory was conducted. Mary expressed an interest in having us return next year to take inventory again. After speaking with many of those who helped, the consensus was that this is something we would like to do again. 7. New Business: A. Item/s from Executive Board – Mr. Juraco met with the executive committee to explain the Wells Fargo debit card and teen checking account package. It sounded attractive to the committee and they recommended that Mr. Juraco make a presentation to the band parents and students. They would possibly have a “Bank Night” for us to sign up. You need $100 to open an account. If an adult already has a Wells Fargo account, it will save time at the sign up process. This could be a good way to educate your teen on banking while they are still living at home. They offer free online banking, a Visa debit card, no fees at the Wells Fargo ATM, protection if the card is lost or stolen and other benefits. We will explore this more in January. B.
